A teacher at Holland Middle School has been relieved of her duties while investigating two allegations that she had affairs with students.
Destiny Hilsman, 25, was arrested and charged in October 2022 in connection with relationships that allegedly occurred earlier in the year.
Charge documents indicate that the victims were 13 and 14 years old at the time of the investigation.
Hilsman took the 13-year-old to the mall, a water park, to see a movie and to her home, where they watched a movie in her bed, according to shipping documents.
The teenager told the police that things got physical and they kissed more than once and the teacher touched her chest.
During an interview with HISD Police, the investigative agency, the teacher said she believed this student was “her person” and that she had bought her a ring so they could have matching rings.
Shipping documents show text messages in which the teacher and student said to each other, “I love you.” The teacher uses the word “forever”.
She also said that she “made a mistake, but she is not a bad person.”
During this investigation, detectives noted in a separate charge sheet that they learned of another alleged relationship between Hilsman and a former student who now attends Houston ISD High School.
This relationship occurred in the summer of 2022.
The 14-year-old student told police that she and Hilsman kissed.
Shipping documents show text messages between the two. In one letter, Hilsman said, “I really want to see how you can get sexual but I don’t even know if you know.”
In this case, Hilsman told the police, “She is not the only one responsible for the relationship, and stated that the complainant and they both made a mistake.”
HISD said it relieved the teacher on August 24, 2022.
The Texas Education Agency lists Hilsman’s license as under review. The agency’s website said the license remains in effect during the investigation until a decision is made.
