Jason Raynard Peters (born January 22, 1982) is a National Football League offensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys (NFL). He attended Arkansas and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2004, initially as a tight end. He was later traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009 and played for them for the next twelve seasons before joining the Chicago Bears in 2021.
Where did Jason Peters go to high school?
Peters attended the University of Arkansas and played football for the Arkansas Razorbacks after starring in both football and basketball at Queen City High School (TX). He was originally drafted as a defensive tackle but spent his freshman season as a reserve defensive lineman. As a sophomore, he was moved to tight end, where he caught four passes for 37 yards. Peters was named second-team All-SEC in his junior season after catching 21 passes for 218 yards and four touchdowns.
Peters, a fairly athletic tight end weighing more than 320 pounds, was dubbed “a clone of former Denver Broncos giant Orson Mobley.” Peters spent a significant amount of time prior to the 2004 NFL Draft working O-line drills, preparing himself to be an offensive tackle in the NFL because he had far more knockdown blocks (61) than catches (21) in his final year of college. Sports Illustrated projected him as an early fourth-round pick, but he went undrafted.
