Outer Banks is obviously filled with action, drama and mystery, but the Netflix series is also brimming with summer fashion inspiration to take note of. The second season released last week, and ET Style has gathered a bunch of our favorite looks worn by Kiara Carrera, aka Kie, played by Madison Bailey.
The queen of surfer-girl style, Kiara ( portrayed by actress Madison Bailey) is basically a walking PacSun ad, rocking an array of graphic tees, patterned bikinis, crop tops, and cutoff denim shorts during the treasure-hunting adventures she embarks on with her Pogue pals.
“Our style on Outer Banks is unique and most importantly obtainable, and that’s something that was top on my list,” says Holmes. “I think the level of comfort in our Pogue style is perfect for this summer” — which will most likely be spent in quarantine. Where does Kiara live in the cut?
Kiara lives in the Figure Eight, but is originally from the Cut, and is down-to-earth, easygoing, and described by The Pogues as a socialist. The only child of Mike and Anna Carrera, she works at her father’s restaurant, The Wreck. Her mother, Anna, was born into money and is from the Figure Eight, while her father is from a less privileged background, however both their parents want to leverage the financial success they’ve had to provide Kie with the best possible opportunities, including moving to the Figure Eight and enrolling Kie in the same school all the Kooks went to. The transition to life and school in the Figure Eight was very hard for Kie; she had trouble connecting with her peers, making friends, etc. However, when she met Sarah Cameron, they struck up a friendship and Kie began to find the acceptance that had eluded her up that point. Sarah and Kie quickly became very, very close, and during this time, Kiara neglected her friendship with John B, JJ, and Pope. Eventually Kiara’s friendship with Sarah ended abruptly, leaving Kiara hurt and alone. It’s after this point that Kie connected with the Pogues again. Initially, when John B. was first introducing Sarah into the Pogues, Kie and Sarah demonstrated acute hostility toward each other, and this continued until the Pogues stranded them on a boat together, forcing them to confront and resolve the bad blood between them. In the pilot, John B. reveals that he, JJ, and Pope each have or had some sort of attraction to / infatuation with her.
Kiara sometimes works in her father’s restaurant, but most days is out on the boat or hanging out with The Pogues . At the end of Season 1, Kiara helps John B escape from the police and leave on a boat.
Kiara is very close to JJ. She is the one who is always there for him, and she understands what he goes through with his complicated home life and abusive father. Kie and JJ have a connection that helps them understand what the other is feeling. In the hot tub scene, Kie didn’t wait for him to explain himself. After JJ reveals the bruises on his abdomen given to him by his father, he starts to break down. Kiara rushes to him and embraces him. She holds him as he cries in her arms. When JJ and Kiara have to go back to JJ’s house to get the keys to The Phantom, Kiara offers to go with him so he doesn’t have to be alone the first time he faces his dad since their fight. When Rafe makes fun of Kiara, by saying to JJ that she “looks pretty hot for a pogue”, JJ doesn’t even hesitate to try and beat up Rafe.
Choose up to 7 games. Kiara kisses John B on the cheek at one point and later on in the season he kisses her, thinking she likes him, but she doesn’t kiss him back and turns him down. Kiara sometimes works in her father’s restaurant, but most days is out on the boat or hanging out with The Pogues .

At the Midsummers party, in the episode “Midsummers”, JJ convinces Kiara to run off with him and the other pogues, saying, “C’mon Kie, Workers of the World unite, throw off your chains”. At this, she breaks away from her parents, who disapprove of the pogues. JJ holds out his arms for her, and she runs into them.
What does Kiara wear?
Kiara wears a crochet tie-back tank top from Urban Outfitters and floral board shorts by O’Neill while hanging on the boat with her buds. Her top is unfortunately sold out, but you can shop a few similarly summery styles ahead.
