Tristyn Bailey, 13, was found dead on Mother’s Day, May 9, 2021, a few hours after her family reported her missing. She had repeatedly suffered knife wounds and slashes.
Bailey’s killing was charged as first-degree murder when Aiden Fucci, then 14, was taken into custody. Just before juror selection was to start, in February 2023. Fucci switched to a guilty plea. He will now receive a minimum 40-year to life sentence.
This is what transpired that evening and in the months that followed.
In the arrest report for Fucci, he acknowledged spending time with Bailey at a friend’s home on May 9, 2021, and departing with her at around 1:10 a.m. He claimed that he wandered around for a while before arriving at his Castledale Court house at around 3:30 in the morning.
However, a detective claimed that Fucci kept revising his account. When they finally got into a fight, according to Fucci, he shoved Bailey to the ground, where she hit her head.
