Unsolved Cases Save Our Streets
A man was shot and killed in Port Richmond in March 2021, leaving his family heartbroken and still searching for answers.

PORT RICHMOND – Charles “Chuckie” Maude’s relatives carry a piece of him with them wherever they go. Memories fill their home in the form of pictures, letters to heaven, and the work of small hands.

Their backyard. Their automobiles.

“He’ll never be forgotten,” Chuckie’s stepmother, Dean Maude, said.

His father, mother, and stepmother are all on a mission.

“He adored his daughters above all else in the world. He adored everyone “Charles Maude spoke about his son. “He never had a disagreement with anyone. He had the warmest heart on the planet. So, I’m not sure who would take his life for no reason.”

“I’m left with only hope. I can only hope. I’m optimistic because I know someone out there knows exactly what happened “Jennifer Meleski, Chuckie’s mother, stated.

A video of Chuckie with one of his two daughters, Isabelle, six years old, plays as a reminder of the man Chuckie was.

Chuckie dropped Isabelle off at his mother’s house in Port Richmond on Friday, March 12th, 2021.

“I gave him a hug, and he walked down Emerald Street.”

Just after 10:45 p.m., Philadelphia Police say they discovered Chuckie shot inside his black 2002 Mercedes-Benz in the 3200 block of Emerald Street. He died after being rushed to Temple University Hospital by police.

“I have no idea how to explain it. It’s as if someone ripped out all of my organs. I just felt so empty, you know? “Jennifer elaborated. “And, once again, I would reverted to denial. ‘There’s no way he’ll leave us,’ I thought. There isn’t a chance.'”

“We’ll never be able to hug my son again. I can’t even wish him a happy birthday or a Merry Christmas. They robbed us of that, for example “Charles elaborated.

The two men wanted by police have been captured on surveillance video. Chuckie’s family believes he was either listening to music or fell asleep in his car during the shooting. Two men are seen approaching Chuckie’s car in the video.

According to police, only one shot was fired.

The men were last seen driving south on Kensington from Allegheny in a white four-door sedan with a vanity plate with red markings on the front.

Chuckie had grown up in his mother’s Port Richmond home and was well known in the community.

“He would babysit other people’s children so that they could go to work. He was always out sweeping the street “Jennifer says “He enjoyed it. He enjoys assisting others.”

“We ask questions like, ‘Did Chuckie have a problem with anyone?’ Was he in a fight or something?’ ‘No, Chuckie was Chuckie,’ everyone said. For example, everyone adored Chuckie “Dean stated.

Dean and Jennifer, who had previously disagreed, became united in their search for answers.

“She’d call me, and I’d call her. She’d be irritated. I’d bring her up, saying, ’cause You can’t do this.’ We must continue to fight. We’re not going anywhere.’ “Dean elaborated.

Jennifer continued, “That would make him very happy. He would because he adored both of us. So I’m sure he’d be pleased.”

Chuckie’s family claims to have combed through social media, spoken with eyewitnesses, questioned everyone they knew, and turned everything over to police. They increased the reward to $30,000. They held their second annual memorial to raise funds for the futures of his daughters.

“And nothing has changed. $50,000 could allow you to restart your life “Dean stated this.

According to Chuckie’s family, he may have witnessed an altercation between a man and a woman earlier in the night and verbally intervened.

They believe someone is aware of something.

“He did more than just ruin our lives. He destroyed our entire family. We just had it, whoever did it “said Charles

“You are unable to mourn. You are unable to progress. I’m feeling trapped. Still, over a year later, I feel like I’m trapped in that same night “Jennifer stated this. “And I don’t think I’ll ever be able to move. Until the perpetrators are apprehended.”

According to Philadelphia Police Homicide Captain Jason Smith, they need a credible eyewitness to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 215-592-5859.
