A murder-suicide in Pueblo is said to have involved Tyler West as the victim.
When they were called to a business in the 4100 block of N. Elizabeth Street for reports of gunfire, police opened an investigation on Dec. 22. The region is on the city’s northern edge. Officers came and discovered the dead of two males; they suspect that one of the guys shot and murdered the other before killing himself.
Tyler West was named as the victim on Thursday. Pueblo High School had a band teacher named West.
Part of a statement from Pueblo School District 60 said, “It is with great grief and a heavy heart that we confirm that one of our instructors has passed away suddenly.”
For the previous two years, Mr. Tyler West taught band and instrumental music at South High School. Our students and staff at South held Mr. West in the highest regard and loved him dearly. He will be sorely missed. Despite his brief tenure at South, his engaging demeanor and charming teaching approach will be long remembered. His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
Staff and students had access to a crisis team and support team.
