“Tim made the best tacos in town and knew all the customers by name,” said his coworker Amy Lansky. “His smile and energy lit up the restaurant.”

Tim initially started as a cashier at Taco John’s during high school before progressing to the kitchen. He relished experimenting with new taco recipes and took pleasure in training new team members in the art of taco preparation.

A lifelong resident of Austin, Tim Bartlett had deep roots in the local community. He graduated from Austin High School in 2004, where he played the trumpet in the marching band.

“Tim brought so much joy to the band with his goofy sense of humor,” remembered high school friend Melissa Troy. “He was a prankster but always made sure everyone felt included.”

Afterward, Tim pursued business management studies at Riverland Community College while simultaneously working his way up to become the revered Taco Master at Taco John’s. Beyond work, he was a passionate Minnesota Vikings football fan, enjoyed playing softball, and relished his time on his boat.

Shock and Grief Over the Sudden Loss
The unexpected passing of Tim Bartlett at the age of 38 sent shockwaves through the Austin community. Friends and community members took to social media to express condolences and share cherished memories.

“Our community lost a bright light way too soon,” wrote Austin Mayor Michael Wilson online. “Tim impacted so many lives through his service and smile. He will be dearly missed.”
