Sergio Brown’s parents are Mario Brown and Myrtle Simmons-Brown.
His father Mario Brown was the first African-American men’s basketball player at Texas A&M. Myrtle Simmons-Brown was a loving and supportive mother who was always there for her children.
His mother, Myrtle, 73, was found dead in the Addison Creek Reservoir — less than 100 yards from her house, after the player and mum were reported missing a few days ago.
Sergio Brown received his education at Maywood’s Proviso East High School, where he excelled in both football and track. He was a wide receiver and a defensive back for the football squad of the Pirates.
He had 41 tackles, two sacks, six interceptions, and 710 all-purpose yards as a senior safety in addition to his four touchdowns and four receptions as a wide receiver.
