Obituary | Patti Kreher Passes Away

Joe and Patti Kreher were looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with their kids and grandchildren. The two, however, tragically perished in a plane crash in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. According to PEOPLE, they had traveled from St. Louis to North Carolina numerous times.

According to the Belleville News-Democrat, Patti and Joe owned a business named General Machine and were from Freeburg. According to a news release from the Federal Aviation Administration, their private plane, a twin-engine Piper PA-30 Comanche, crashed on Saturday around 11 am in a neighborhood close to the northwest corner of Winston Lake Golf Course.

According to FlightAware.com, the plane took off from St. Louis Downtown Airport on Saturday and landed in London, Kentucky, an hour and 45 minutes later. It reportedly had a new landing time of 11:10 am at Smith Reynolds Airport.

The duo is well-liked by the staff at General Machine, according to them. Freeburg Mayor Seth Speiser told WFMY News that it would be difficult for everyone who knew Joe and Patty. Speiser remarked, “I knew Joe and Patty; they owned a machine business off of 159; they were really well-liked individuals in the region. Added he, “I also feel bad for all the families of employees. because there are no longer any mom and pop owners of the mum-and-pop business.” Speiser went on to offer his condolences: “The fact that this occurred so close to Thanksgiving is really tragic. We are sending up prayers for this family.”
