A York College of Pennsylvania student was found unresponsive in his dorm room Saturday.
Andrew Ruehlicke, of the class of 2024, was found unresponsive in his room and was later pronounced dead, according to a news release from Rick T. Satterlee, dean of student development.
There is no threat to the health and safety of the campus, according to Satterlee—but anyone who needs assistance should access the college’s counseling services.
Ruehlicke was a junior majoring in sports management and he played on the varsity men’s soccer team, according to his LinkedIn profile. He had wanted to work in the sports industry, in stadium operations or ticket sales, after graduation. Ruehlicke is from Mullica Hill, New Jersey.
“There are no words to describe the profound sorrow we feel as a community because of his passing,” Satterlee said in the news release. “Please keep Drew and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”
Officials are still investigating the cause of Ruehlicke’s death, according to CBS21. Spring Garden Township police and the York County coroner are the agencies involved in the incident, according to Mary Dolheimer, chief communications officer of York College, abc27 said.
