Saroyan, 54, started his military career in the late 1980s, serving in the First Nagorno Karabakh War.
Saroyan was born in Etchmiadzin, Armenia on September 3, 1967.
He was an active participant in the Karabakh movement. In the early 1990s, he led a detachment, and later a battalion, in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War.
On May 12, 2007, he was elected to the NA’s 5th convocation as an MP.
He left the former ruling RPA party and politics in 2018.
He is married with four children.
He was elected to the House of Commons in 2007, 2012, and 2017.
Saroyan has received the Courage Medal (1994), Combat Cross Class II (1996, 2002 (NKR), Marshal Baghramyan Medal (1997), For Services to the Fatherland Medal Class I (2006), Andranik Ozanyan Medal (2004), and other honors and decorations.
