Police have reported that the body of a 32-year-old man who went missing last month has been discovered in a canal in north London.
Police believe the guy to be Nathan Cole and have alerted his family, who are receiving support from specialized officers, although formal identification is not yet complete.
At 8:20 on Friday morning, according to the police, they pulled a lifeless man out of a canal close to Tottenham Marshes. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cole, a resident of Notting Hill, was last spotted on January 21 at around 11.20 p.m. walking through Walthamstow in north London. Authorities think he was going to a concert in Camden that night but may have changed his mind and gone to see some buddies, who he had earlier claimed were in town.
The Metropolitan Police stated in a statement: “Officers were alerted to reports of an unresponsive man in the canal near Towpath Road, N18, at 08:18 on Friday, February 17. The victim was declared dead at the scene after the arrival of police, an ambulance, and the London fire department.
Officers believe the individual is Nathan Cole, but formal identification will be made in due course.
To determine the cause of death, we are awaiting the findings of the expert postmortem examination. Specialized officers have informed and are assisting Nathan’s family. At this time, we ask the media to respect the privacy of his family.
