Lindsey Lanoux Dies from Cardiac Arrest, Well-known Atheist

It is difficult to consider everything that I could say about my brother and close friend Patrick Gladden because there is so much.

When we first met, he was just in his second year as an apprentice, and we hit it off immediately afterward.

I have always admired Patrick for his straightforwardness and his willingness to speak his mind. Pat and I had a lot of good times together, and he was always a joy to have in the company of others. From the first minute you met Pat, it was clear that he possessed a great deal of energy and was packed to the brim with life.

It’s difficult for me to write these things since only a few weeks ago, I was joking around with Pat about life, work, and everything else that’s necessary to joke about with friends in order to make life a little more bearable. It was really difficult to digest the information that he had committed suicide this morning after hearing that he had done it.

I was aware that he was encountering a few challenges along the way of his life, but the few times that we had discussed the matter, he gave the impression that he was making progress in his situation. It’s just a sign that occasionally, in order to be a good friend to someone else, you might need to be the one to inquire, “Hey, are you okay?” rather than waiting for that person to ask you directly.
