Lauren Allegra Lapkus is an American actress. Lauren is best known for portraying Susan Fischer in the Netflix comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black and Jess in the HBO comedy-drama series Crashing.

Per available records, Lauren has one sibling – a brother whose name is Julian. When Lauren was young, she filmed sketches with her older brother Julian. She later continued at Evanston Township High School she participated in the annual student revue and variety show YAMO.
Lauren had her college education at DePaul University, where she graduated in 2008 with a degree in English, while she continued performing improv most nights.
Upon graduation, she moved to New York City where she became involved with Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. After living in New York City for 15 months, she relocated to Los Angeles in 2010.
After almost a year in Los Angeles, Lauren began landing roles in a number of commercials, including Snickers and Jack in the Box as well as a sketch on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Lauren has been married twice. She was first married to actor and improviser Chris Alvarado in 2014, however, she announced their separation in 2016.
She then married actor Mike Castle in 2018, and in 2021, she announced that she and her husband were expecting a baby girl in the summer. She gave birth to a daughter named Holly in 2021.
