Kelsey Ouellette Death, Police seek information on suspect vehicle

Following the woman’s shooting murder in central Edmonton earlier this month, the Edmonton Police Service is asking anyone who knew Kelsey Ouellette to come forward and provide information on a possible suspect vehicle.

On Saturday, November 5, 2022, at around 7:30 p.m., many reports of gunfire in the vicinity of Jasper Avenue and 116 Street prompted the response of Downtown Patrol officers. Officers found Kelsey Ouellette, 31, who had been shot when they arrived. Until paramedics came, responding cops provided emergency first aid. On the spot, Ouellette was pronounced dead.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s autopsy on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, revealed that Ouellette had suffered several gunshot wounds and that homicide was the cause of death.

The suspect car, a white Toyota SUV, which was seen in the neighborhood around the time of Ouellette’s death is now being seen on camera by investigators.

In addition, police have released a photo of a 2016 white Toyota Highlander that was discovered burning at around 8:45 p.m. that same night near 259 Avenue and 18 Street. Detectives are currently looking into whether the burned-out car is the suspect one.

Since then, it has been established that the burned-out car was taken from northwest Calgary in August. It also had a license plate that had been taken from west Edmonton in early October. On Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, on Yellowhead Trail westbound at 107 Street, a picture radar ticket was issued for the stolen license plate number, Alberta Plate: CKP5569.

According to Detective Jared Buhler of the EPS Homicide Section, “We think this Toyota Highlander was driven and would have been parked in the Edmonton area throughout the months of October and November.” “We are requesting anyone who recognizes this vehicle or can recall seeing a similar vehicle parked in an unusual or temporary location to please get in touch with us.”

Investigators also want to talk to any of Ouellette’s friends or acquaintances who may have interacted with her since June of this year.

According to Buhler, “the inquiry has started to paint a picture of Kelsey’s life, in especially the six months prior to her death, which was marked by a life-changing incident.” “According to information gathered, our investigators think that the circumstances surrounding that incident may have anything to do with her slaying. Even though Kelsey knows a lot of people, we still want to talk to the people who are most familiar with this incident but haven’t been found. We advise these people to call the police right now.
