Doris Jean Nantz of Houston, Texas, died peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2022, with her family at her side.
The woman was 91 years old.
Doris, who was born on March 24th, 1931, in Charlotte, North Carolina, loved nothing more than spending time with her family and seeing new places.Her late parents, Bronze Holland Trull and Lula Belle Trull, her brother, Bronze Trull, and her spouse of 56 years, James William Nantz, Jr., all predeceased her.In addition to her son James William Nantz, III and his wife Courtney of Nashville, Tennessee, Mrs. Nantz is also survived by her grandkids Caroline Nantz and her fiance LT Andrew Delaney, USN, Holton Hockaday, Finley Nantz, and Jameson Nantz.As the first resident of the neighborhood and the “belle of the ball” and “life of the party,” Doris cherished her many friends at Royal Oaks Country Club in her latter years. Since 1977, she had also been a devoted member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.For her vibrant personality and upbeat view on life, Doris will always be remembered. She never had a bad day and always put everyone else’s happiness above her own. Her grandchildren regarded her as the best grandma and mother a person could ever have.The funeral ceremony will begin at three o’clock in the neighboring Jasek Chapel following a gathering of relatives and friends begins at two o’clock this afternoon, Thursday, October 6, in the parlor and Republic Wine Room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.The family will assemble at a later time for a private burial at Mount Holly, North Carolina’s Old Town Mount Holly Cemetery.
