A 51-year-old woman, Jeanette Alatorre, was shot and killed by Boulder police officers on Sunday after she allegedly brandished a replica gun near the North Boulder Recreation Center.
The cause and manner of her death are pending further investigation. Police received a 911 call from a driver who reported being approached by a woman with a gun in the driveway exit of the recreation center. Police arrived on scene and found the woman two minutes later.
Police did not cooperate with the woman and fled north on Broadway on foot. After several de-escalation attempts, police shot her at 4:26 p.m. Police administered medical care before a Boulder Fire-Rescue crew arrived, but after approximately 40 minutes of emergency aid, she died.

The woman was confirmed to be the subject of a trespassing call at the recreation center, where she was reportedly refusing to leave a bathroom. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective S. Byars at or 303-441-1970 and reference case no.23-12689.
