Jason Arno, 37, has been named as the Buffalo firefighter who died on Wednesday while battling a fire in the city’s downtown, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown verified in a tweet on Thursday.
According to the Buffalo Fire Department, Arno perished while battling a four-alarm fire that started in a three-story building on Main Street at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to Brown, Arno spent three years as a member of Engine Co. 2 of the Buffalo Fire Department.
Everyone should intercede for FF Arno’s family and his fellow firefighters, Brown urged.
According to William Renaldo, the commissioner of the Buffalo Fire Department, there have been reports of building renovation workers using torches outside the structure, which the fire department thinks to be what started the fire.
Before a backdraft sent flames flying out of the building in what initially appeared to be an explosion, the fire may have been smoldering inside the structure for some time, according to Renaldo.
