Luci is the anti-heroic tritagonist of Disenchantment. He is a demon who lives in Dreamland, and is Princess Bean’s “personal demon”. He is voiced by Eric Andre. Luci is from both Hell and Maru. Luci was sent to Bean by Enchantress and Emperor Cloyd, who spectate the shows events through a green oracle flame.
For the sake of clarity, Luci refers to himself as a “guy”, Bean calls Elfo and Luci “boys” and Luci enjoys the attention of females in Castle Party Massacre. It is safe to say that Luci is a male, despite his ambiguous name.
Luci is the deuteragonist in Disenchantment. He lives in Dreamland, and is Princess Bean’s “personal demon”. He is voiced by Eric Andre.
To be clear, Luci only needs to grow figuratively; the demon voiced by Eric Andre, isn’t very big and that’s part of his charm. If Bean, his human captive (and friend?), is the average height of a teenage girl — 5’4” — then Luci is about 1’2”.
What is Luci’s personality?
Throughout the majority of the first season, Luci’s nature was apparently of the traditional demon: he was pure evil and not capable of love or compassion, and acts as a puppet for Cloyd and Becky in their plot.
Luci’s behavior was chaotic, and seemingly random in places, yet in others, it was pivotal to moving things forward. Luci’s actions vary from encouraging worse-than-normal behavior and actively Disrupting events to being helpful in a crisis. Even though he was meant to steer Bean’s destiny, he does so by influencing the actions of Zog and Elfo. For example:
In Swamp and Circumstance, Elfo refers to Luci as Lucille. This may mave been a small-minded way to undermine him due to jealousy of his easy friendship with Bean.
Luci’s influence corrupts Elfo who encourages Merkimer to drink his (Elfo ‘s) impure (half-elf) blood and thus turn into a pig. Getting Bean intoxicated in S01E6 and soon afterward encouraging her to hang upside-down from a chandelier thus insulting the Dankmirians.
In the episode Stairway to Hell, Luci and Bean travel to hell in order to try and find Elfo. When they arrive, Bean and Luci then travel to the Infernal Stronghold to find the Book of the Dead so they can pinpoint Elfo’s location.
Luci looks similar to a shadow, though it was shown that he can cast a shadow of his own, which seems to mirror the direction he was facing. Like many demons, he has a spearhead tail. However, when compared to the demons released in The Princess of Darkness, which all have wings instead of limbs, Luci has arms and legs. Luci’s figure has very little form or depth, and was accompanied with a large singular eye (that was shown), horns on his head, and fangs. His form often causes people to confuse him for a cat. While he, Bean, and Elfo are in Hell, he was temporarily changed into a Level 2 demon (bigger and with wings) and then into a Level 4 (even bigger and with larger wings).
Luci then exposes Bean as a human and tells Asmodium that he got “ a dumb elf ” to come down from heaven. Impressed, Asmodium promotes Luci to demon level two, which causes Luci to grow slightly bigger and earn his wings. Bean was dragged away appalled, realizing Luci’s sinister plan all along.

What is Luci’s behavior?
Luci’s behaviour is chaotic, varying from encouraging worse-than-normal behaviour, actively disrupting events and to being helpful in a crisis – not just to Bean but to Elfo and Zog. For example:

Hellraiser (1987): When Luci says “Open the gates of…I mean ” the ribbon ” this is parody of Lemarchand’s Box in the classic horror movie by Clive Barker. ( S01E01) He stops himself from saying “open the gates of hell”, which the box in Hellraiser is famous for doing.
Luci’s ways spread to Elfo who encourages Merkimer to drink his impure (half-elf) blood and thus turn into a pig. leading Bean to a sleep-deprived day of snake root intoxication resulting in the desecration of the family crypt in S01E03. He is discovered to be the cause of her behaviour and summarily exorcised.
The name Luci is evocative of Lucifer, meaning “light-bearer” which is one of the name’s associated with the Devil. Whilst an apparent contraction of Lucifer, the name Luci could derive from Lucius, which itself comes from the Latin lux meaning “light”.
Origins. Luci is from both Hell and Maru. Luci was sent to Bean by Enchantress and Emperor Cloyd, who spectate the shows events through a green oracle flame. They reside in a temple in Maru, revealing Luci is from Maru as well.
Being a demon, Luci doesn’t have a biological form. As such, there is no way of knowing whether his smoking, drinking or drug taking has any effect on his “health”. Being an infernal creature, drugs may not harm him, although they clearly have an effect on him.
What is the name of the bar in Luci’s Inferno?
Bean often sneaks away to the local bar, The Flying Scepter (later renamed Luci’s Inferno after Luci wins the bar in an arm-wrestling contest), to get away from her royal duties, and returns to the castle drunk. Bean’s full name is actually Tiabeanie Mariabeanie la Rochambeau Grunkowitz, but she calls herself “Drunkowitz” whenever she is drunk, as producer Josh Weinstein announced on Twitter after the first season was released.
Luci was sent from Maru by Emperor Cloyd and his sister Rebecca to spy on Bean and corrupt her to be willing to go with Dagmar and become the new queen of Maru, but Luci grows close to Bean and Elfo, developing a really deep friendship with them, and even leaves Maru for them.
Disenchantment is an American adult animated television series starring Abbi Jacobson as Princess Bean, Eric Andre as Luci, and Nat Faxon as Elfo. The series’ seasons are split into halves; the first season, consisting of twenty episodes, was released in two equal parts; the first ten episodes premiered on Netflix on August 17, 2018, and the second ten were released on September 20, 2019. The first half of season two, entitled Part 3, is set to be released on January 15, 2021. The following is a list of characters featured in Disenchantment.
Tiabeanie, or Bean (voiced by Abbi Jacobson) is the drunk teenage princess of Dreamland. Bean, as the main character of the entire series, is the daughter of King Zøg and Queen Dagmar, but after Dagmar accidentally poisoned herself, Zøg married Queen Oona, who became Bean’s stepmother. In the ninth episode, “To Thine Own Elf Be True”, Bean must choose to either bring Dagmar or Elfo, both of whom previously died, back to life with the Eternity Pendant. Bean chooses Dagmar, which angers Elfo when he arrives in Hell and sees her decision. Dagmar orchestrates Dreamland’s fall, and takes Bean on a boat to Maru, where Dagmar was from, to meet the entire family.
Miss Moonpence (voiced by Batten) is Odval’s servant. She appears in a few part two episodes and is only ever shown as an eye and a leg through a depression in Odval’s chambers. It is unknown if Batten will play Miss Moonpence in the second season of the show.
In season two, Kissy moves to Dreamland where the elves have set up their own miniature town “Elf Alley” with the rest of the magical creatures. There, Kissy begins a relationship with Luci, despite Elfo’s warning that Kissy is only using him. Kissy breaks up with Luci and all the other men she was dating at the time in that same episode. Kissy is the daughter of elf king Rulo.
Is Luci a ghost?
Luci is otherworldly, so he not only needs to look different from the other characters, but separate from Dreamland itself. Moreover, he’s not a ghost; he’s an emissary of darkness sent by the folks looking in on Bean from a cauldron all season. So his shape-shifting and undefined abilities are an enticing bit of dark magic, with a mystifying motive.
Given how Luci’s motivations are often stretched to fit the narrative — as lithely as a weary feline preparing for her afternoon nap — his disguise and shape-shifting ability are (pardon the turn of phrase) quite fitting, but still confusing. Yes, Luci delights in pushing Bean toward her baddest self early on, but it doesn’t take long for him to be making amends with Elfo and cluing in the King on his ex-dead, ex-wife’s evil plot. Even though Luci often wants to follow his demonic tendencies and make sure the worst option is the chosen option, he ends up keeping his fellow protagonists from messing up too badly.
