While “Invincible” has been renewed for two additional seasons, there is still no news on when we could see some of those new episodes. Given that most series take around a year to produce, we’d anticipate the second season to premiere in April or May of 2022.
‘Invincible’ season 1 premiered on March 25, 2021, on Amazon Prime Video, with the first three episodes, and the rest of the episodes followed weekly after that. The season finale was aired on April 29, 2021. The season packs eight episodes with runtimes ranging between 42 and 49 minutes per episode.
In total, there are 144 Invincible comics, spanning 15 years of Kirkman and Walker’s careers. The TV adaptation altered the order of certain plot points for season 1, but the first eight episodes only covered the first 23 issues. If a similar trajectory is maintained for future seasons, Invincible may end around the season 7 or 8 mark.
If a similar trajectory is maintained for future seasons, Invincible may end around the season 7 or 8 mark. According to Kirkman, however, there could be more or less than that. Speaking to ScreenRant, he said that there’s a “rough roadmap for where things from the comics will fall”.
When will Invincible season 2 be released?
It can be speculated that the second season will likely come sometime in the first half of 2022, but considering how long animation can take to produce it might arrive even later.
If Invincible follows the arc from the comics, season 2’s main plot elements will involve the Sequids’ plan to take over Earth, Titan growing his crime organization, Allen’s adventures in space, and Mark’s tensions with Cecil’s methods for protecting the Earth.
Invincible is clearly going to be a long-term investment for the streaming service, which is a good thing because fans clearly want more from this world. That is not to mention that season 1 left a lot of storylines open-ended regarding, well, everything, and much of that could be tackled in season 2.
Invincible follows the story of teenager Mark Grayson (played by Steven Yeun) who, after years of waiting, finally develops superpowers inherited from his father Nolan, an alien who came to Earth and became the world’s most famous superhero Omni-Man (played by J.K. Simmons).
Amazon’s Invincible is based on the Image Comics series of the same name, created by Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead, and artist Cory Walker. The comic is known for blending heightened and silly superhero elements with adult drama and ultraviolence, and the Invincible show aimed to capture that balance, too.
Invincible has been a success for Amazon, garnering both critical praise and high viewership. These renewals show that Amazon has plenty of confidence in the show and its creators to continue weaving a strong story moving forward.
When will Invincible season 2 be released?
Let’s back up a second before we get to suggesting when Invincible season 2 will be online. Amazon announced it ordered Invincible season 2 and season 3 on April 29, a little more than a month after the series’ March 25 debut.
