Influencer Nompilo Dlamini Dies After Battling Cystic Fibrosis

Nompilo Dlamini, a notable social media influencer who valiantly battled cystic fibrosis, sadly passed away on October 30. Her family announced her passing through her Instagram account @young_cfer on October 31.

The 28-year-old former Swati educator’s family shared the news through an Instagram Story, stating, “Dear friends and family…Nompilo passed peacefully in her sleep last night. As a family, we’re still digesting the news and will update you about funeral arrangements in due course.”

Nompilo Dlamini’s mother, Jabu Fakude, confirmed her passing to Times of Swati on Facebook, sharing, “Cystic Fibrosis fighter Nompilo Dlamini is no more. Dlamini died today in her sleep according to her mother Jabu Fakudze who confirmed the sad news. May her soul rest in peace.”

Dlamini had been coping with cystic fibrosis, a chronic illness that significantly impacted her lung function and necessitated the daily use of a breathing assistive device.

In 2021, TshisaLIVE reported that Dlamini, a 28-year-old schoolteacher, had to leave her job due to her battle with cystic fibrosis.

Notably, South African rapper Cassper Nyovest made headlines in 2021 when he donated R150,000 to support her cause after she revealed her need for donations to travel to India for a lung transplant.

Dlamini’s passing garnered tributes and condolences from South Africans, with many acknowledging her as a courageous fighter who inspired hope in the face of adversity. Businessman BI Phakathi paid tribute, and others expressed their admiration for her strength and determination in the face of her circumstances.
