Super Dave (also known as The Super Dave Osborne Show) is a Canadian/American variety show starring and hosted by the fictional character Super Dave Osborne (played by Bob Einstein).
It ran from 1987 to 1991 on Showtime in the United States and the Global Television Network in Canada. Super Dave was spun off from the sketch comedy series Bizarre, which featured Bob Einstein in recurring roles, including Super Dave. Super Dave made his first appearance on the 1972 TV series The John Byner Comedy Hour.
Who is the actor who played Super Dave Osborne?
Einstein was born in 1942 in Los Angeles to actress Thelma Leeds and comedian and actor Harry Einstein, also known as Harry Parke. In the 1960s, Einstein created the character of Super Dave Osborne, a fearless but accident-prone daredevil who made appearances on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and other comedy/variety shows.
The character became a regular feature on Bizarre, and was spun off into several TV series in Canada and the United States, most recently Super Dave’s Spike Tacular in 2009. Over time, Super Dave even made it into commercials for clothes and athletic shoes. Einstein said he never tired of his alter ego.

When did Super Dave come out?
The series ran from 1987 to 1991, and was followed by the 1992 animated series Super Dave: Daredevil for Hire. Einstein would continue to reprise the character throughout his career, be it the 2000 film The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave or the Spike TV sketch series Super Dave’s Spike Tacular.

Bob Einstein has died. The comedian best known for creating “Super Dave Osborne” and starring in Curb Your Enthusiasm passed away Wednesday morning in Indian Wells, CA. According to Deadline, his cause of death was complications stemming from his recent cancer diagnosis.
Einstein ’s other notable roles include Marty Funkhouser on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Larry Middleman on the third season of Arrested Development. When asked how the former came to be, Einstein told The Futon Critic that he and series creator Larry David worked on the character together.
Who is Super Dave?
Super Dave was featured in Nike commercials in 1990, comparing his latest dunking contraptions to the Nike Air Flight basketball shoe, and appearing with such NBA stars as Reggie Miller and Gerald Wilkins (whom he called Roger and Harold, respectively, and was then corrected).
After such a mishap, Super Dave would usually appear torn apart, stretched, or otherwise injured. Although Super Dave initially exhibited and was injured during wild stunts, in later appearances, he would often be injured in mishaps during much more mundane events during which danger was not anticipated.

Trademark components of the Super Dave character include his frequent thumbs-ups and his many uniforms — most of which include red, white and blue, yellow stars, and stripes — which are reminiscent of those worn by daredevil Evel Knievel.

He also won a CableAce Award in 1992 as the star of the Showtime series “Super Dave.”. He is survived by his wife, Roberta; his daughter, Erin Einstein Dale; two grandchildren; and his brothers. Mr. Einstein said that he did not originally see Super Dave as a role he would play, on and off, for most of his career.
He was 76. His manager, Lee Kernis, said the cause was cancer.
Mr. Einstein’s dry delivery piqued the interest of Tom Smothers, who offered him a job on the series that he hosted with his brother, Dick. Mr. Einstein wrote for “The Summer Brothers Smothers Show” in 1968 and “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour” from 1968 to 1969.
