Anne-Marie Ross Cause of Death

Two years after being diagnosed with a rare gene mutation that led to stage four lung cancer, Ross passed away on September 9. Beginning in 2001 under the direction of Nick Meyer, now the president of film at Entertainment One, her career spanning over two decades in international film distribution began at Lionsgate.

Who was Anne-Marie Ross?

Anne-Marie was a model of grace, intelligence, and generosity. She exuded an ever-present sunny disposition. When I first met her seven years ago and had the pleasure of working with her at Lionsgate, she was a star who could handle any curveball thrown her way. Everyone who knows her feels the sadness and injustice of her loss, but no one can fathom how much [her husband] Jonathan, the kids, and her parents must be hurting. In a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Meyer said, “My heart aches as I’m just writing these words.”

After a fall on set in Croatia, Kate Winslet was rushed to the hospital, according to THR News.

As of 2012, Ross held the position of executive vice president, international sales, for Lionsgate. Prior to being named president of Pantelion Films in 2014, Ross served as the company’s head of international sales for its first four years.

Her gentle demeanor belied her toughness in negotiations. Always giving her all to her work and her family, she had an admirable work ethic. The welfare of Jon, the children, and her loved ones ranked above all else. Helen Lee-Kim, president of Lionsgate’s international motion picture group, added, “Our hearts break for everyone.”

Ross co-founded and led TLC Wellness, a portfolio of health and wellness businesses, and advised the National Bank of Canada in the entertainment space from 2018 until her death in 2019.

Ross received her Bachelor of Arts in Chinese History from UC Santa Cruz in 1995 and her Master of Arts in Chinese History from UC Irvine in 2000, both with high honors. Ross founded Parents of Preemies Day-Los Angeles in 2013 after the premature birth of her own twins, both of whom suffered from a variety of health complications. The event ran for the next five years at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital.

Her parents, Tom Boysen Sr. and Pochan Boysen, as well as her brother, Tom Boysen Jr., all predeceased her. A memorial service for Ross is in the works and will be announced at a later time.
