Explore Denzil Connick Obituary, Co Founder Of SAMA 82 Association

When Denzil Connick returned to the Falklands Islands 15 years after fighting there, adrenaline rushed through his body.

“It was an incredible feeling,” he told Express.co.uk. “I was facing up to my demons, going back to the place where all the trauma started.”

In 1982, Connick became one of the war’s most severely injured soldiers.

Part of the 3 PARA — the 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment — he and his crew had dropped onto the islands on a “silent assault”, a surprise attack on the Argentine forces.

Everything was planned: Connick and his team would take Mount Longdon swiftly, securing one of the island’s most strategic points.
