Estefany Florian Obituary, Fremont murder-suicide victims

The identity of a mother and her two children who perished in a murder-suicide that occurred at a Fremont home earlier this month have been confirmed by and additional information has been provided.

Evelin Lemus Garcia, 28, Estefany Florian Lemus, 4, and Emiliano Florian Lemis, 1 year old, have been named as the victims of the event. According to police, the names were made public in collaboration with the victims’ father or spouse, the Alameda County Coroner’s Office, and both.

“Father/husband hopes that disclosing the names of his loved ones will raise awareness of mental health and the availability of mental health services for those who need them,” according to a statement from the police.

On June 5, shortly after 1 p.m., police and firefighters were called to the 40000 block of Inglewood Common in the Irvington neighborhood of the city to look into three fatalities.

Officers arrived and found the bodies of the two little children and their adult mother in their apartment. Detectives thought the incident was a murder-suicide after conducting a preliminary investigation.

A knife was found at the crime scene, and forensic examination will reveal whether or not it was the murder weapon. Police claimed they were reaching the conclusion of their investigation in their report on Friday.
