I'm an adult critical care physician and anesthesiologist, clinical associate professor, and Biodesign Fellow at UCLA Health. I'm focused on the development and implementation of emerging technologies into the clinical realm in order to improve patient care and safety and operational efficiency across a variety of healthcare settings. Clinically, I manage the sickest and most complex medical and surgical patients, and I provide tele-ICU services at the Greater Los Angeles VA Medical Center. My academic research focuses on machine learning, computer vision, and generative AI in digital health, sensing, and data visualization. My health services research studies telemedicine implementation, cost-effectiveness, and patient outcomes with telemedicine use. My quality improvement work pertains to the standardization and implementation of OR-to-ICU handoffs in surgical patients, through which I have direct experience with implementing patient safety checklists across two hospitals in one large academic health system.
