Dr. Greg Rosenthal, MD – Maumee, OH

Dr. Rosenthal trained at the University of Notre Dame, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis University Dept. of Ophthalmology, and Illinois Retina Associates. He specializes in the treatment of diabetic retinal disease, macular degeneration, pediatric retinal disease, retinal detachments, and uveitis. His main practice is in Toledo, Ohio (), and he also founded and maintains one of the world’s only permanent third world missions in retinal surgery in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

Dr. Rosenthal has been involved in Medical Informatics and clinical computing since 1984. He has consulted with several early EMR development projects. He served as the Director of Medical Informatics for ProMedica Health System from 1994-2002. He also co-founded Systemedics, Inc. () an independent IT consultancy supporting IT needs for medical practices, health systems, and selected technology vendors. He has been closely involved in the retinal development for several EMRs including NextGen from 2001 to 2011, and since 2011, the expansive, newer generation advances at MDoffice.

Dr. Rosenthal has been active in the area of patient rights advocacy, working with the US Senate Special Committee on Aging, various societies, and healthcare journalists on bio-ethics issues in retinal medicine.

Currently, Dr. Rosenthal serves as moderator of the MDoffice National Users Forum. He is a co-founder of the Northwest Ohio Vision Alliance, a major eye care consortium in Northwest Ohio. He is also Ophthalmology Division Head at University of Toledo Medical Center, regional Chairman for Prevent Blindness Ohio, and is Co-founder and Executive Director of the Jairus Foundation () working with the University of Notre Dame and the Ecumenical Knights of Malta on the development of retinal surgery missions in the third world.
