A native of metro Atlanta, Deep graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia. He was awarded Truman and Rhodes Scholarships, affording him the opportunity to obtain a master’s in comparative social policy at the University of Oxford. Deep then received a medical degree at Harvard Medical School, where he was awarded a Soros Fellowship for New Americans. Finally, he trained in internal medicine / primary care at Emory University School of Medicine / Grady Memorial Hospital. At Emory, Deep was named outstanding physician resident all three years.
Deep is active in the health policy community. He serves on national committees for the American College of Physicians and sits locally on the board of Georgians for a Healthy Future. He has served as Legislative Fellow to Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Health & Human Services Fellow to Governor Sonny Perdue (R-GA).
