Dan Aykroyd has a younger brother named Peter Aykroyd, who was also an actor.
Peter Aykroyd was born on November 19, 1955, to Lorraine and Peter Hugh Aykroyd in Ottawa. He and his older brother Dan were in the Second City comedy troupe in Toronto.
The two brothers were also on Saturday Night Live, where Peter from 1979 to 1980 was a cast member and writer during the show’s fifth season.
For the movie, Nothing but Trouble which came out in the early 1990s, Peter wrote the story, and Dan wrote the screenplay. Later in 1996, Peter co-wrote the sci-fi show Psi Factor with Christopher Chacon and Peter Ventrella which produced 88 episodes. Dan hosted the show.
Peter died on November 6, 2021, at age 65, two weeks before his 66th birthday from septicemia caused by an untreated abdominal hernia.
