Abubakar Sharrif Of Burlington Stabbed To Death

Police in Vermont’s largest city, Burlington, are looking into a fatal stabbing, the fifth this year.

On Sunday around 3 a.m., police were summoned to a pizza business on Main Street where they discovered Abubakar Sharrif who was profusely bleeding from what appeared to be stab wounds. The man, later identified as 23-year-old Burlington resident Abubakar Sharrif, was declared dead at the hospital.

It was the first homicide in Burlington this year that did not involve gunfire even though it was the fifth this year overall.

Detectives are still looking into Sharrif’s death, according to acting Burlington police chief Jon Murad, and further details will be made public when they become available.

Police and city officials are already dealing with an increase in gunshot events in the city since Sharrif passed away.

According to then-Mayor Miro Weinberger, a fatal shooting on Luck Street last summer marked the city’s first homicide in more than two years.
